I went to school in LMSD, I had a school-issued laptop, I knew the administrators who administered them and I know what really happened. People like you blowing this out of proportion just make a wonderful school district who does everything it possibly can for its students look like some hokey 1984 parody. The fact is, Blake Robbins stole a laptop (he took out a loaner overnight) and even though the software was a mistake, Blake signed a contract saying the school had rights to use it. It was HIS CHOICE to take the laptop home.

and this includes using tweetdeck or cotchin to check in to foursquare via a laptop. Unless you a have a smartphone, forget foursquare

Wow. Very soon, it will be impossible to maintain any type of privacy at all. That is a shame. technology is good until someone finds a way to pervert it as happened in this case.

It ain't easy to keep a database with all businesses in a certain area. As you said, many get closed and that data isn't updated anywhere. I hope Google will try to find a solution because Google Maps is indeed a useful application.

It's hard for local businesses to survive now, when we have an economical recession. Without proper advertising, they aren't popular and thus nobody calls them when in need. They don't even get settled well, get a Voip telephone and sign some papers when they find themselves in the position of being forced to shut down the business because they aren't able to make a profit. It's a sad situation, I am familiar with companies that had good ideas and came a stumer.

Thank you for your advice. I've tried many ways to checking in with foursquare from my netbook because I don't have neither iPhone or BB like my friend. But it failed. At last your article introduced me many websites that allowed me checking in, although it won't much suitable for netbook user but I enjoy it and waiting for new way for laptop check-in ^^
